the lawyer says that he can't help Andrew with his case.He cant's seea case.

However, Andew thinks he has an ultenior motive, personal reasons.
He could refuse to help him because:
-he thinks Andrew is un trust worthy; he is a liar.
-he thinks he doesn't have money to play
-Andrew is gay and he may he homophobic.
-he doesn't want to have a "bad" reputation.IF he sues a big law pirm, he could lose. What's more, the idea of defending person who is sick wich AIDS is not positive for his image.

Whan joe Miller says he doesn't want to help him, Andrew looks both sad and disappointed.

the scene takes places at joe miller's office ( a lawyer who is an old acquaintance of andwrew's) andrew has come to sol his exboes from a big law firm because he says he was wrong fixed . Joe is skeptical and not interesded . He wants Andrew to go out because he is both scared to sue this power ful compagny and to becontaminated by AIDS

Thanks Laurence! It has indeed been quite a long effort on both parts for the project to finally come to an end.

Let's hope the students actually manage to be really good and interesting guides for the senior student in January...

the document is a scene from the movie"philadelphia". there are two characters: a black man(lawyer) and a whiteman (Mr Beckette).
situation: Mr Beckette is the lawyer's office becaus he has been fired and he wants to sue his ex boss.His compagny says that he was not serious but he thinks there is an ulterior motive; he believes he's been fired because he has the AIDS.
The characters feelings and details:

awerness compaign: AIDS is mass murderer
the document is an awerness compaign to fight aigainst AIDS
it represente two characteres who are having sex: Adolf HITLER and a woman Adolf is a well-know nazi dictator who killed a lot of people during WW2 ( world war 2). He is responsable for mass murderers. He is the symbol of evil and danger. It looks like the woman is enjoying whatis doing, to her while his gaze is cold and horrible.
If the women didn't look happy, we could thinks he's raping her, kidnapping her, torturing her or killing her.
at the bottom of the pictures, we can read the catch phrase "AIDS is the masss murderer" and the caption " protect yourself" when you gives an advice and the internet web-site to get more information.
This document intends to shock people to have them mook at the poster so that they are interested. It is meant to make paople react and raise paople's awarness about the infection.

World aids day. The document is a report about an event which takes place every year on December 1st. it was launched by bono (from the music U2 ) in Sydney last year. He met with the prime minister to turn the landmarks of Sidney (opera) red.
Red is the color which symbolizes AIDS. They talked about the huge progressing about prevention against HIV infections. There is no vaccine and no cure for the moment but a treatment that helps to live healthier with the virus.
The gathering is meant to:
-raise for research
-support people who are infected
-sensitize people
Ways to get infected:
-sharing an infected needle with a drugs addict.
-having sexual intercourse without “protection” (condoms/rubbers)
- from the pregnant mother to her child ( although thanks to drugs transmission with infected blood (although this can be prevented too with blood selection ) .

Here, the revolution food:

A teaser/a trailer/ a preview of an Amercia TV shows.
It features a Britishchef, Janice Oliver who is in " the most unhealthy town, Huntington, west Virginia.
The scene takes place now a day and it deals with the problem of obesity. People are dying because they don't know what they eat.
For instance, out school, children can't make the difference between potatoes and tomatoes.
They have pizza for breakfast but they don't know that they shouldn't.
At the end of the exctract, Jamie is crying because he is disappointed in people's reactions and fed up with the bocals 'hostility.
Why it is funny but it actually isn't:
The man is crying ( he looks ridiculous to some students )
There is a discrepancy/gap between what they know and what they should know.

You need to be cautions about what you say and how you say it. Not everybody is obese in the US.

Here, the humour from the text:

" A years in the Merde "
The text and the autor play with stereotypes and that's why it's funny.
For example, the French are certain that their proposals for the name of tearooms are perfect while their suggestions are not correct English.
" My tea is rich " comes from old language school books to help students practise pronunciation (" my taylor is rich " is like " where is my umbrella? " or " Brian is in the kitchen")
" Tea's café" is absolutely incorrect, it doesn't mean anything. It is based on the have an apostrophe in them.

The French feel superior. They are said to be self-sufficient/Smug and the text plays with it.
As for Paul's suggestions, to his colleagues and boss, they are too flat and don't sound English enough. They are not funny.
