today we first warmed up with two questions that you had to answer freely about fairy tales.

1- How did you get to know your first fairy tales?

2- Why do fairy tales attract children?

Here is what you said:

"to be written by ..."

Then, we continued the class with studying the text again. You had to focus on speech tags, verbs of movement and body language. Here is a selection of set expressions from the text:

"to be written by ..."

Finally, we commented on the story to determine if it was a parody indeed or not. Here is what we said about the twist in the story in the 2nd part: 

"to be written by ..."

HW:

- être capable de parler du texte et de l'histoire. Savoir expliquer pourquoi il s'agit d'une parodie = continuer le paragraphe déjà commencé pour la 1ère partie en le complétant par la 2ème partie.

today we first talked about the brand "Nike" and how their way of producing shoes was not ethical at all... we then watched the report from the BBC about ethical fashion again. You had to identify the main topics from the video with key ideas and key words from the document.

Here are some of the notes you had to take while listening:

- faire le résumé détaillé en français de ce que vous avez compris en faisant une introduction, un développement qui prend en compte tous les thèmes abordés incorporant le plus de détails significatifs possibles, et une conclusion (essayer de ne prendre que 10 minutes pour le faire... cela vous entrainera à votre épreuve de l'année prochaine).

- ne perdez pas l'oreille anglaise pendant les vacances et regarder autant que possible vos films / séries / reportages / ... en V.O. ! Le 2ème trimestre de l'année 2012-2013 est déjà très proche!

today we worked on how to develop your essays and dialogues thanks to the assignment from the Pondichéry mock exam. Let's hope you will have understood the methodology a bit better.

HW:

- pour Lundi (rappel! = RATTRAPAGE d'un cours ce LUNDI 04 JUIN de 9h à 10h): rendre l'un des deux sujets proposés en respectant la méthode. Vous pouvez bien sûr rendre les deux sujets (mais pas plus de 200 mots au total).

today after correcting your dialogues and finally acting them to get some more points on your grade, we commented and corrected the translation that I made for you from the text about segregation that you were given as a test 2 weeks ago.

Here are some important translation techniques to remember with their examples:

"to be written by ..."

We studied an interesting fact about verbs beginning in gl- : most of them correspond to a verb about "light".

Ex:

to glow -> shine with a red light

to glisten -> shine on a metallic surface ...

Finally, you started to complete a translation exercise dealing with some of the techniques seen in class throughout this year. You can download it again here:

today we first talked about the problems you may have had with dubbing Vincent... then we continued the class with a summary of what had been done this year and I gave you some guidelines in order to understand how to create your dossiers for next year.

- Pour Jeudi 07/06/12: préparer UN dossier sur le grand thème de votre choix (a/b/c/d), en sélectionnant 2 documents étudiés en cours, en y ajoutant un supplémentaire que vous aurez vous-mêmes cherché, construire une problématique, et rédiger qq notes pour chaque document expliquant brièvement en quoi chacun se rattache à votre problématique et au thème de départ.

rappelez-vous, au début de l'année vous aviez rempli un questionnaire sur votre connaissance de l'outil informatique. J'aimerais voir si grâce à cette année passée ensemble avec Mme Menenteau et moi vous avez pu progresser et êtes de devenus des GEEKS... :)
