http://www.gwsr.com/media/88933/land%20girls%20poster.jpgHey,

here is the correction that I have typed out for your last dialogue of the year. Unfortunately, so far, there hasn't been any good written expression... (I haven't corrected every paper yet...) So I had to create my own version of the rest of the story. We will use it on Thursday to see how it was possible to do something very good out of your classes.

Hey,

First we had Juliette's presentation about a video clip. Here is what we wrote after her report:

"to be written by ..."

She will have to record her presentation on the blog (audio dropbox) if she wants her grade to be validated.

Then we corrected the exam on the text entitled "Moira and the Gunman" and we translated one sentence from this text which was difficult to transpose.

Here is what we said:

"to be written by ..."

Finally in the 2nd part of the lesson, you had to take a written expression test about Stella, Joe, and Philip (the characters of our text). Here is what the assignment was:

Philip finally comes home. Stella and Joe are present. Write the scene. (200-250 words)

Hey,

today you really pissed me off with your chatting all the time... so much that I decided to stop the class short and have you get out! You didn't deserve me teaching you anymore.

You had better change behaviour and quick!

First we warmed up with a fun video document and here is what we said about it:

"to be written by... "

Then we recapped what had been said previously about the Blitz and we commented on the figures of the global death toll. Then we moved on with the study of the picture and the last text before the end of class.

Here is what we said about the picture:

"to be written by ..."

The text is entitled "Torn Apart" (p. 52-53) and here is what it deals with:

"to be written by ..."

I'm warning you that if I ever have to stop again during one of my classes because you are too chatty, there will be much worse consequences for you!

You'll have a test next week about this text unless you do participate and make a collaborative effort to improve and focus your attention.

I'm not in class like in a kinder garden and I don't intend to teach brats who don't take their education seriously. Is that clear?!

Evenutually, I asked you to translate a part of the text (from line 18 to line 26). Here is the original extract + the beginning of the translation:

Hey,

today we first warmed up about current topical issues, first on a national basis, on a European basis, and on an international basis. Here is what we said:

"to be written by ... "

Then we continued speaking about the text even though most of you didn't have their books! Just unacceptable! You'd better bring them tomorrow...

HW: those who haven't turned in their dialogues MUST do it tomorrow (even those who were on a trip in Greece or China...) + you need to finish the exercises from your worksheet (down to ex. #9) + you have to keep up-to-date about the British election and tell me who won.

Hey,

we first had a warm up about Ashleigh's Rules and Facebook. Here is what we said about it:

"Ashleigh's rules"

Ashleigh was a 17-year-old British girl who was killed by a psycho / freak she had met on the Internet, more precisely on Facebook. After her rape and murder, her family and friends decided to create a list of rules they called "Ashleigh's rules":

* you shouldn't meet a stranger if you're alone.
* you shouldn't accept someone on the Internet that you don't know...

= It's not because it's the Web that you're more protected.

Then Sophie performed her oral presentation of the video clip "Uprising" by Muse. To validate her grade, she will need to record herself on the Internet (cf. audio dropbox section).

After that, we corrected the vocabulary exercise you had to complete for today and we continued commenting on the text. Here is the correction:

1. kneel down
2. county
3. Hell
4. shone
5. bullet
6. coward
7. blaze
8. remove
9. rifle
10. that lot
11. search
12. shoulder
13. reel
14. lunge
15. underneath
16. slump
17. lift
18. shirt
19. seize
20. lid

And here are the comments:

"to be written by Cindy"

Finally, we listened to the song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by U2 and we analysed both the sounds and the lyrics. Here is what we said about the song:

"to be written by Cindy"

HW: Write the conversation between Brian and his parents when they discover his stash of weapons. (250 words). N'oubliez pas d'insérer des parties narratives dans votre dialogue.

Then we continued the class speaking about the document "Guns". Here is what we said about it:

"to be written by Cindy"

Hey,

today we first started the class with the study of a chronology about Ireland and we tried to determine why there were territorial and religious problems in Ireland. Here is what we said about this chronology:

"to be written by Cindy"

Then we moved on with the study of a new text pp. 164-165 in your books. We first analysed the picture associated with the text. Here is what we said about it:

"to be written by Cindy"

Finally, we started commenting on the text and we drew two columns with characteristics about Kevin and Brian, the two main character, more precisely about their behaviours and attitudes.

HW: for next time, you need to finish picking up these prhases and prepare a comment on the progression of their attitudes (present the text, analyse and comment on their moods, ...) = 2-minute presentation.

"to be written by Cindy"

Then we continued correcting your mock exams dating back from February and we could see how places were important for this text.
