Hey,

today we started our new sequence which is going to deal with murals in Ireland and how they represent the past and hope for the future.

Guillaume went out of the class while you were watching an extract from a news broadcast and then you had to tell him what it was in English so that he could draw it on the board. Quite a good job as you can see below:

You can compare it to the video extract that you had to describe (last picture).
Then we talked about the document and here is what you wrote in your lesson copybooks:

Northern Ireland - Ulster

The murals / paintings on the walls / represent the past of Ireland. They depict scenes where soldiers are / waging war / at war.
They are in black and white.
On one house, there is another scene. It represents a bird, more specifically a dove. This animal is a symbol for peace.
It's colourful contrary to the other murals.
It's a symbol for hope and change in the future.

The scene takes place in Northern Ireland, more specifically in the bogside in Derry.
People hope for a better future. Derry used to be the crucible of the troubles in Northern Ireland.

You can watch the extract again below:

HW: I gave you a timeline of important events in Ireland. You need to learn it for next week as well as your irregular verbs.
