Hey,
today we didn't have time to warm up. So we first checked together that you knew your lesson from last time and we continued working on the oral document from I, Robot.
First we did a brainstorming about possible arguments for or against robots. And here is what we said:
For:
* Robots could do all chores instead of us.
* We could sent robots at war instead of human soldiers.
* Robots are / more powerful / stronger / faster than human beings.
* Robots don't complain.
* They could help us discover new things.
Against:
* We could become lazy couch potatoes.
* Robots could take people's jobs.
* They could be used by mean people in an evil way.
* If a robot was hacked, / it could become dangerous / it could rule the world
* They use a lot of energy.
Then we said which words in the document were more accentuated than others and why (contrastive accentuation). Here are some
examples:
Carpenter ≠ Robots
Beautiful chair ≠ Better chair
The Internet ≠ Librairies
Finally we had time to correct an exercise about exclamations that you completed two weeks ago.
Here is what we said:
Quelle invention incroyable !
- This invention is so incredible !
- What an awesome invention !
- How awesome this invention it is !
Tu peux t'imaginer une situation aussi folle !
- You can't imagine how crazy this situation was !
Comme c'est étrange !
- How strange it is !
En fait, je crois que je ne pourrai pas vire dans un monde sans livre.
- Actually, I believe I couldn't live in a world without books.
HW: remember that on Wed., you'll be having an oral comprehension test on a scene from I, Robot. I have already given you the assesment grid. Next Friday, we'll be
correcting your stories. On Wed., Feb. 3, we'll correct your oral comprehension exam and on Friday the 5th, you'll have your final test for the sequence. What an
amazing schedule! Don't you think...! :)
