Hey,
today we first warmed up with the description of this picture:
Here is what we said about it:
The document depicts a concert stage. We can see lots of spotlights.
There are 3 symbols which represent the main religions. They make the word "coexista".
It means religions shouldn't fight but try to unify.
It symbolizes the unity of the world.
The song is probably by U2. They are committed singers. They fight for peace and against war.
Moreover, I recognize the translation of the lyrics.
† : the Catholic / Christian Cross.
☪ : the Muslim Crescent (Moon).
✡ : the Star of David (the Jewish symbol).
Then we started our new activity with the "back-translationé of the song "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" by U2. You had to work on the lyrics translated into French by a blogger and put them back into English. You also had to work individually on stress patterns in the song. Here is the translation of the verse that you produced:
I can't believe the news / information today.
I can't even close my eyes and make all that disappear.
How long, how long time must we sing this song?
How long?
Tonight, we can be together.
Broken bottles under children's feet.
Bodies which cover the floor of a dead-end street / Bodies strewn across a dead-end street.
