Hey,
today we continued our lesson on global warming but we first did a little warm up.
You had to react about this sentence:
"My mother turned 92 years old on Christmas day and my grand-mother is 150!"
It's impossible!
It can't be!
It can't be true!
You must be lying!
Are you kidding ?
Are you pulling our leg / my leg ?
Are you teasing us / me ?
Question tags (demande de confirmation):
You're kidding, aren't you ?
You're pulling our legs, aren't you ?
You're teasing us, aren't you ?
You're lying, aren't you ?
Then we continued with pieces of advice you could give people about pollution. Here is what we wrote:
5 pieces of advice to protect the environnement :
- You should use you bicycle for a short distance
- Our parents had better buy electric cars
- We ought to use public transports
- We shouldn't use 4x4s (four by fours)
- We should gather rain water
Finally, I gave you a short text and we first read it, analysed the vocabulary and commented on it, giving advice.
Here is the translation of difficult words:
Vocabulary of the 1st paragraph:
- A chaque fois que... : whenever...
- Le micro-onde : microwave
- Gaz à effet de serre : greenhouse gases
- La combustion : burning
- Les appareils (électro-ménagers) : appliances
- Par exemple : e.g. (abréviation) - For example / For instance
- Cela en vaut le prix : It is worth the investment

HW: you need to read the end of the text and make as many pieces of advice as possible thanks to the information you understand (at least FIVE)
NB: attention, le mot "advice" est un indénombrable. Pour pouvoir dire "un conseil", il absolument mettre "a piece of ..." devant "advice". (deux conseils = two pieces of advice)
