Birth, life and death vocabulary

As we nearly all spoke about Michael Jackson's funeral, here is a list of words that you will need to know if you read or listen to news on the topic :

- to be laid to rest = to be buried : être enterré.
- to pay a tribute = to pay somebody's final respects : rendre hommage.
- the memorial service = le service funéraire.
- to die of a lethal overdose : mourir d'une over-dose.
- to kick the bucket : passer l'arme à gauche.
- to pass away : mourir.
- a gold-plated casket / coffin : un cercueil plaqué or.

- R.I.P. = Rest In Peace = Repose En Paix.
- a grave : une tombe
- a graveyard = a cemetery : un cimetière.
- an undertaker : un croque-mort.
- a wreath [i:] : une couronne mortuaire.
- a will (of testament) : un testament.
