Hey,
First, as a warm up, we watched President Barack Obama's address to the American people for New Year and we decrypted why he said: "I wish you a very happy and healthy new year".
You can watch the extract below:
Here is what we said about it:
The document is the speech of President Barack Obama that he gave on January 1st 2010. It's very short but reminds Americans of the American Dream. He also insists on health ("Happy and healthy New Year") to allude to / to refer to his health care bill / reform.
Then, we continued our activities on the the song "Bloody Sunday".
Here is what we said about the main differences in the "back-translation" exercises and also the comments on the song itself:
Song: "Sunday Bloody Sunday" (with "mistakes")
I can't believe the news / information today.
I can't even close my eyes and make all that disappear.
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long?
Tonight, we can be together.
Broken bottles under children's feet.
Bodies which cover the floor of a dead-end street / Bodies strewn across a dead-end street.
But I won't listen to the war call.
It drives my back against the wall, against the wall.
And the battle has just begun

And mothers, brothers ans sisters torn apart

Analysis:
The title has two meanings. It refers to "Bloody Sunday" when a lot of blood was shed. But it also refers to the swearword like in the phrase "Bloody Hell" which shows the singers are exasperated / fed up with the situation in Ireland. They can't stand it anymore.
The drums allude to the drums of the army before a battle but also to the sound of bullets/ machine guns.
