Nous avons travaillé sur des ‘job ads’ que j’ai pris sur le site du Guardian. J’ai divisé la classe en groupes de 3 ou 4 étudiants qui avaient comme consigne de

This two-hour session went by very fast. It was 6 pm in no time. This is probably because we worked very hard today. Aminata and Guylène, Camille and Elina presented their documents.
I am waiting for Olivia to send me her notes.
And we didn't even have time to work on the video I had prepared.

The language lab being too small for the class, we are now in room 157 on Wednesdays.

You had to correct the mistakes you made on the presentation you had handed me in the week before.

Quelques uns ont fait une présentation complète de leur camarade de classe, d’autres non. Les notes sont donc en rapport avec la production et la correction de l’anglais bien sûr. Donc rappelez vous, plus vous nourrissez un devoir plus élevée sera votre note…

Then you worked on the activities in your books pages 10 and 11. Job ads.

Hajar, Ikrame and Lucie presented their current events.

Hajar spoke about the rate of unemployment in NYC and the consequenses in terms of medical coverage on the unemployed. The article was: Unemployment hits 10,3 % in New York City, from the Times.
Voici son travail:
This article  was published in the Times, on september 23, 2009.
 
The number of the unemployed in New York exceeds the average of the country. Last year the finance sector lost 18 800 jobs.
 
When people lose their jobs in the USA, they often lose their medical coverage. In 2009, hundreds of thousand unemployed
persons are going to join the 45 million Americans who have no medical coverage today.
 
Statistics show that the  number of unemployed people  will not stop growing.
 

Ikrame’s Summary :

Now, France Telecom is famous, but no for a good reason. Indeed, since February 2008 there have been more than 23 suicides, probable because the pressure on workers is  too strong.

Pressure= pression

To commit suicide= se suicider

Lucie’s Summary:

Jaguar Land Rover is thinking of closing a factory in Britain. It’s planning to make a new business plan. Its concern will be to protect the environment by developing hybrid cars and light weight vehicles.

Business plan= plan d’affaires

Range of products= gamme de produits

Light weight vehicles= véhicules de poids légers

It adds up to 800 new jobs: tout cela fait 800 nouveaux emplois

Traduction :

Mastercard a été accusé hier d’encourager les adolescents à s’endetter, avec le lancement d’une carte de paiement pour enfants.

Le plus grand groupe au monde de carte de crédit sort une carte prépayée qui permet aux jeunes d’acheter des produits avec ces cartes.

Ce que les adolescents peuvent dépenser est limité par le montant que leurs parents sont prêts à déposer à l’avance, mais ce projet a été qualifié « d’irresponsable » hier par des associations de consommateurs

L’ Institut National de la Consommation (LE NNC) craint que les cartes habituent tellement les enfants à dépenser l’argent qu’ils n’ont pas, qu’ils s’endetteront complètement une fois qu’ils auront l’âge de demander une carte de crédit. Ceux qui sont pour, cependant, considèrent les cartes comme une étape normale à franchir dans une société qui utilise de moins en moins d’argent liquide. Ils soutiennent que les cartes prépayées familiariseront les enfants avec cette « monnaie en plastic » sans grands frais.

You had an oral vocabulary quiz on the words from the exercises.

Then you finished the exercise and we corrected it.

Finally you had to work in pairs

Assignment: Analyse the text I gave you to present it to the class. Sous la forme d’un compte rendu oral avec un branching out de votre choix et des notes de vocabulaire.

There were three articles, each in relation with the general topic we are studying: CONSUMERS

Article NR 31: Hello, girls
Article NR 22: Call to ban junk food ads during ‘family’ TV
Article NR 24: Your online clicks have value, for someone who has something to sell.


These articles will have to be presented orally to the class on Tuesday, October 13th


Ikrame and Comba were absent. So both of you are to come to the lab Tuesday October at 4 p.m. to get the article you will have to study and present to the class on Tuesday, October 13th.

Pour exprimer l’opposition on peut dire :

Whereas, while = tandis que, alors que

Exemple: BlinkFan likes school whereas Bluebear doesn't.

Pour donner son opinion :
