Hey,
today you got gathered in the amphitheater so that you could vote for or against
going back to school. There was a vast majority of students against resuming classes; so you all hit the road. As I am rather worried with what the seniors are going to be able to do during the
vacation, I will post some articles for them, so that they can work differently.
As for the moment, here is some news of the strike as seen by the British:
Voc:
- a refinery
- (to) fuel up
- a motorist
- petrol(eum)
- shipment
- (to) put out (a fire)
- retirement age
- turnout
- austerity measures
Take care,
Mr Hattais.

Hey guys,
since it was once more impossible to teach today because you voted for a demonstration in Champigny and Le Perreux, we couldn't have class.
Make sure to be prepared when you come back to school to take your tests that will be postponed until the day when I see you back finally...
As for some news of the movement against the pension reform in English, you can watch the news report from Reuters.co.uk:
Voc:
a strike
(to) raise the retirement age
(to) withdraw the pension reform
a commuter
(to) blockade
a facility
a fuel shortage

Hey guys,
here is a song to ponder over...
It deals with the destiny of homeless people... Here are the lyrics:
She calls out to the man on the street
"Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere, you can tell me?"
He walks on, doesn't look back
He pretends he can't hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there
Chorus:
Oh think twice, 'coz it's another day for you and me in paradise
Oh think twice, 'coz it's another day for you, you and me in paradise
She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she's been crying
She's got blisters on the soles of her feet
She can't walk but she's trying
Chorus
Oh, Lord is there nothing anybody can do
Oh, Lord there must be something you can say
You can tell from the lines on her face
You can see that she's been there
Probably been moved out from every place
'Coz she didn't fit in there
Chorus
More information about the song here.
More information about homelessness here.
And finally, some news in English about the reform...

For the students who have studied the theme "Troubles in Northern Ireland", here is a document that will prove you that even if a ceasefire was voted in 2005, the
peace process is still a long way to go. Click the headline below to read the entire article:

"Based on a true story..." very funny...
+ Pun on words with the expression: "No shit, Sherlock" that could be translated by "sans blague!" or "déconne?! John!" :)
